“I pledge to keep working hard to represent the people of Franklin.”
Nick McKim MP, Greens Leader and Member for Franklin
Greens Leader Nick McKim has worked hard to protect our beautiful estuaries and coastline, save Tassie’s forests, for better public transport, to create new jobs in new industries and to keep the government honest.
Coastal Protection. Nick is the only Franklin MP who has stayed true to the community’s effort to save Ralphs Bay from a canal estate development. “Labor and Liberal MPs have let people down, but I will continue to work to protect Tasmania’s beautiful coastline and estuaries, especially special places like Ralphs Bay.”
Dying With Dignity. Nick believes that terminally ill people should be able to choose to die with dignity rather than being forced into deaths that are often agonising and humiliating. He recently introduced voluntary euthanasia laws into Parliament. “If re-elected I pledge to reintroduce voluntary euthanasia laws into the Tasmanian Parliament. I will never stop fighting for the rights of terminally ill people and their families.”
Public Transport. Nick is a passionate advocate for better public transport services. He has proposed a public transport revolution for Franklin, including a fleet of mini-buses to pick up and drop off right at people’s homes. “Public transport services on the Eastern Shore and south of Hobart need to be more convenient and flexible. The Greens’ public transport revolution will deliver this.“
