“I pledge to continue working hard to deliver better public transport, support for vulnerable Tasmanians and to protect the places we treasure.”
Cassy O’Connor MP, Greens Member for Denison
Cassy O’Connor is a strong voice in Parliament for vulnerable Tasmanians and families doing it tough. A former journalist, in 2004 she became a community activist as the public face of the campaign to save Ralphs Bay and the River Derwent from a Gold Coast-style canal housing estate.
Cassy is committed to a future for Hobart where zero-emissions light passenger rail connects people from Granton to the waterfront and a rejuvenated, greener and more people-friendly CBD. The mother of four young Tasmanians, Cassy recognises the value of a good education delivered in well resourced schools by teachers who always put students first.
Cassy cares deeply about the children of Tasmania and will always stand up for clean air and uncontaminated water, for the forests that sustain our wellbeing, for the coastline that we all love and for the wild creatures with whom we share this beautiful island
