PRAISE FOR COMMUNITY BUSHFIRE RESPONSE
Nick McKim MP
Greens Leader
The Tasmanian Greens Leader Nick McKim MP has today praised the efforts of emergency workers and volunteers who have been battling bushfires and co-ordinating relief efforts around the state.
Mr McKim, who yesterday visited the Hobart recovery centre, said the overwhelming community response to the tragedy was truly inspirational.
“If there is a positive story in this tragedy, it is the incredible way that the entire community has come together to help those affected,” Mr McKim said.
“The stories of bravery and sacrifice by our emergency services workers have been nothing short of inspirational.”
“There are many families who have lost everything and others who have been seriously impacted by the fires, and to them we offer our deepest sympathies.”
“Through our role in power sharing government, the Greens will work hard to ensure that impacted communities receive all the help they need to rebuild.”
